Well Mare insisted that the update needed to get on the blog even though she is still at the hospital so I will be giving it a shot this time. First off, the important stuff. She weighs 8 lbs flat, 19 1/2 inches tall, with a little bit of hair. She was born around 6:30 p.m.

We went into the hospital about 7 this morning and around 9 her water was broken. She decided to walk around the place to try and get some contractions going and not much was happening. They decided that we needed to try some petocin. Marianne was worried about progressing to fast and not getting any pain meds like what happened with Isaac, so she asked for epidural first. After getting a wonderful painless epidural, the nurse started the petocin. Then the waiting began. Every 30 minutes the Nurse would come in and raise the petocin up a notch, but we weren't getting any contractions. At 3, the petocin had been in for over 3 hours and still nothing. At this time the shift ended and we got a new nurse.

She couldn't believe that we had no contractions (we were already at half the absolute max they are allowed to offer). After some detective work, the nurse found the problem. The petocin wasn't even connected to Mare's IV. the first nurse forgot to even attach it. For the previous 4 hours it had just been dripping onto the floor behind the bed where no one could see while Mare laid there numb from the stomach down with

no contractions. So we pretty much had to start over at 3:30. Needless to say the second time went much smoother, She didn't need much petocin, she progressed really fast, and when the doctor came in, he had enough time to put his stuff on, and on the first push we had a brand new baby girl. It was the perfect labor for Marianne. As she was pushing, and delivering the baby, she was saying "I love epidurals" out loud. Yes this was a very different experience then with Isaac.

Lydia and Isaac were such great older siblings, both wanting to hold Julianne. It was neat to see Lydia try and do everything Mare did while taking care of the baby. She is going to be such a great help to her mom. It was neat to see Isaac want to touch every part of the kids face and feed her his graham cracker....were going to have to watch him. Any way, its obvious we will post more pictures as we go, but here are a few to hold you over till later.

P.S. Her bow is green for St. Patricks Day!!!

Congratulations! She is so beautiful! I love her blond hair and the cute green bow! I am glad to hear that the delivery went well except for the nurse forgetting to connect the Pitocin! Oh well! Well Mare looks greats and Issac and Lydia look excited to have a new sister!
YAY!! Congrats you guys. She is so adorable. I love it! That's awesome that she is a St. Patty's Day baby. How fun! I'm glad Mare got the epidural, but what an idiot that first nurse was! DUH!?! With our next one I'm definitely telling them I want an epidural. The curse of the non existent epidural is over. We've done it, we're awesome, now let the pain meds come. Congrats you guys!
YEA!!! Congratulations on your new baby girl! I think its so much fun that you guys waited to find out what you were having. I'm glad that everything went better this time. My next one better go better or else I think we might just be done. She looks adorable!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! She looks adorable! You guys sure know how to make them!! Too bad she wasn't born on the 15th (my bday) or the 25th (Greg's bday). It is probably a VERY good things she wasn't born on the 25th!! Ha ha! Teasing Greg is just too easy!
